Hold period
A hold period is how long an approved commission waits before it can be paid out. It gives refunds and chargebacks time to arrive before money leaves.
Also called: payment schedule, locking period, pending period, net terms.
Worked example: A sale on 1 March, 15-day hold
- Sale recorded
- 1 March
- Payable from
- 16 March
- Paid in
- The next payout after that date
In more detail
Too short and brands pay out on sales that are later refunded. Too long and partners wait months for their money and drift away.
How ViralPayouts handles it
Programs choose 15 to 30 days (15 by default). A brand can agree a different schedule with one partner. Changing the hold needs 3 business days’ notice.
