Postback URL
A postback URL is an address the affiliate platform calls when a conversion happens, so an affiliate’s own tracker can count it. Placeholders in the address are filled with the sale’s details.
Also called: S2S postback, server-to-server postback, conversion postback.
Worked example: A postback for a 20% commission
- Saved address
- https://tracker.example/pb?cid={sub_id}&payout={payout}&status={status}
- Called with
- https://tracker.example/pb?cid=abc123&payout=20.00&status=pending
In more detail
Affiliates who buy traffic use postbacks to tie each sale to the ad click that caused it, through a tracker such as Voluum or RedTrack. The link carries the tracker’s click id in a sub ID, and the postback sends it back.
How ViralPayouts handles it
Partners can set one per program. It fires on a new sale, on approval and on reversal, with {sub_id} to {sub5}, {click_id}, {payout}, {currency}, {status}, {event} and {program}. The brand’s order id and the customer are never sent.
